Blood

A fact:  Apheresis is ancient Greek for "taking away". This word is used for a special kind of blood donation, where the blood of the donor is passed through a machine which removes certain components from the blood but returns the rest.  In this way it is possible to collect plasma or platelets or red blood cells or white blood cells -- and even bone marrow cells for transplant. The donor usually does not need fluid replacement as most of the blood is returned to her body.

A quote:  “Blood will tell, but often it tells too much.”  -- Don Marquis
